Parents,
This morning we ate breakfast and talked about what we thought the weather was going to be like today. Some of us said it was going to be rainy, and others said it was just going to be cloudy. We worked on counting by planting different amounts of flowers into gardens, and worked on our fine motor skills by threading large beads onto strings and by stamping with farm animal stamps. We also played a few games of classroom bingo, where our bingo pictures were objects around our room like backpacks, shoes, journals and more! During circle time, we decided that it was really windy outside because we saw the trees moving, so we placed the big windsock over our classroom tree. For calendar, we counted to 27 and when we read our pattern, we realized we needed a purple number. Our dancing and movement helper chose to sing "Where Is Thumbkin?" and she showed us the movements. We went outside with Pre-K on the playground, and afterwards, Ms. Mitchell, the Pre-K teacher told us that a pupa came out of one of the pupas we were watching and we needed to release her! We went over to the Pre-K classroom, looked at the empty pupa casing, and saw the beautiful Monarch Butterfly flying around the net! Ms. Mitchell got the butterfly out of the net, and we all went outside and sang "Happy Birthday" to her as we released her into the wild! For story time, we read "Cock-A-Doodle-Do, Barnyard Hullabaloo" about all of the different animals at the farm. For centers, we worked in the science center by cleaning muddy animals, and we created ears of corn for our bulletin board! We are going to put them up in rows tomorrow when they dry! We ate lunch with Pre-K and since it was raining, we did not go outside. Instead, we came in and danced to some of our favorite songs, and made more ears of corn. We also created a tent by putting a sheet over one of our tables, climbed inside the tent, and read a story, by flashlight, to get us ready for rest time! This afternoon, we will be going over to the Pre-K room to learn about symmetry by looking at and making our own butterfly wings!
Have a wonderful day!
