April 29th, 2009

Parents,
This morning we ate breakfast and we pretended we were a bunch of farm animals by mooing, oinking and clucking. We worked on our fine motor skills with our leaping frogs by having them jump into a bucket, and we also practiced counting to different numbers with ladybugs. We worked on farm themed puzzles, and glued our ears of corn and corn stalks onto our mud we made yesterday! During circle time, we all put our right hands on our head and got a stamp of the letter of the week, "Z." We decided that it was really windy outside today because we saw trees moving, so we placed the big windsock over our tree. We counted to the number 29, and found out that we needed a purple number by reading our pattern. Our song and dance leader chose to play "Popcorn" and she stood in front of the class and showed us the dance movements. We went outside with Pre-K and had fun looking for bugs and playing on the new playground. For story time, we read "The Very Hungry Caterpillar," by Eric Carl, about a little egg that hatched into a caterpillar, and he was very hungry. He ate lots and lots of food, and when he was stuffed, he made a cocoon, and turned into a butterfly! In centers, we worked on our own butterflies to have come out of their pupas, and washed and scrubbed the farm animals that were really muddy. We ate lunch with Pre-K, and went outside with them on the playground. This afternoon, we will be going to the Library with Pre-K and Kindergarten to have a special story time presentation!
Have a wonderful day!
