April 2nd, 2009

Parents,
This morning we ate breakfast and worked on our counting skills by placing different amounts of frogs on lily pads, and counting ducks in a pond. We also drew different characters from the movie "Monsters vs. Aliens" on whiteboards with dry erase markers to practice our writing grip, and played with felt characters on a felt dollhouse. We dressed the dolls, fed the baby felt doll a bottle, and put them all to sleep in their beds. During circle time, we decided that it was very windy, so we placed the big windsock over our tree. We counted to the number 2 on our calendar, and said that today was Thursday, April 2nd. For singing and dancing, we played the song "Tooty Ta," and our music helper showed us the motions! We played outside with Pre-K on the playground, and enjoyed the monkey bars and the fireman pole! For story time, we continued to read "The Pinkish, Purplish, Bluest Egg" and then some of us went over to Ms. McGuire's room for speech. During centers, we continued to paper mache our huge eggs to make them really thick with paper, and played in the big block center. We made towers that were almost as tall as us! Right before lunch, we looked at our egg that had been soaking in vinegar, and dropped it from different distances to see if it would break. We discovered that the egg actually bounced, and then we popped it and got to feel the soft, rubbery shell! We went to lunch with Pre-K, and then went out to the playground with them. This afternoon, we will be going over to Pre-K to finish working on our egg patterns, and work on math equations about chickens in a tractor!
Have a great evening!
